Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there. I’m sure that if you aren’t a dad already, you got the one in your life a nice gift. Hopefully something better than a tie or handmade ash tray, too. If not, you still have time to plan! Here’s some mostly free things dad wants for Father’s Day to get your started.
Mostly Free Things Dad Wants for Father’s Day
These gift ideas are perfect for dads who have everything or when you’re on a tight budget. Which is usually what happens when you have young kids at home. Hopefully they’ll feel appreciated with these gift ideas.
Not to wipe anyone else’s butt
You’d think when they’re out of diapers this wouldn’t be a thing anymore but no, bigger kids still find a billion reasons to need their bum wiped by someone else. Not dad. Not today.
And while you’re at it, let dad go to the bathroom or take a shower without an audience. It’s not just moms who have to suffer through this!
To get to pick the movie
Tonight, we’re watching the original Charlie and the Chocolate Factory – none of this Tim Burton remake . Time for you children to get some culture for a change. No, no complaining.
But really, let dad pick what’s on the TV whether it’s family time or just the two of you. It might not be much but it means a lot when you try and share his interests.
This one may cost a bit, but it would be nice once and awhile for dad to finally get enough meat at dinner. Not giving up the last chicken leg to little Timmy who never eats anything and is actually eating his dinner for a change. No. All for dad.
If you can afford it, try and serve up some steaks or grill something else on the BBQ. Don’t forget to compliment dad’s amazing BBQ skills!
Time to himself that isn’t in the bathroom
We all know the bathroom is dad’s office, but can’t he just once and awhile play an uninterrupted game of Hearthstone or watch a YouTube video without having to pretend to poop? Let dad ignore his family on the couch for a change. Just for a few minutes, anyway.
Or even better, give him some time off to relax and watch sports, play video games, or do something else he enjoys. Dads deserve some time to relax and recharge, especially if your lives are busy.
Space in the bed
Dad is extra snuggly warm, the best to snuggle with. Let dad wake up just once without a foot in his face or laying in a puddle of someone else’s pee. It may seem like he slept peacefully but his sore back says otherwise.
If you can keep the kids quiet this is also a great opportunity to let dad sleep in. Maybe even make him breakfast in bed with the kids!
If you really haven’t had the chance to get dad anything for Father’s Day, don’t fret. Time with his family and hearing how much you appreciate him will do just fine. Money can’t compete with family anyway. The best mostly free things dad wants for Father’s Day is just to feel loved.
